Eco Open Homes

Eco Open Homes
In September, 20 homeowners opened their doors to showcase their eco homes, inspiring others to adopt sustainable changes in their own living spaces.
The event was a success, attracting over 650 enthusiastic visitors. Have a look at our brochure listing all the eco-homes within the Lewes District.
Below, we’ve highlighted a selection of case studies to spark your own sustainable journey.
Meet Trish and Stephen
Trish and Stephen moved to Lewes to find their forever home along the River Ouse.
They knew that they wanted to build an ultra energy efficient house and chose Baufritz, bespoke prefab houses which are made in Germany and take only two days to erect and be fully watertight.

Features
- Detached new build Baufritz house
- Timber framed and insulated
- Windows are triple glazed
- 7kW air course heat pump
- 10 kW of solar PV panels
- Two Tesla Powerwall
- 2.0 batteries (27kWh in total)
- Electric car charger
The house is timber framed with massive amounts of wood fibre insulation and triple glazing. There is a whole house ventilation system with heat recovery as well as the heat pump and solar. The house has been carefully designed to be Trish and Stephen’s “forever house” so that they can stay there into their retirement, with a lift between floors and many other features.
