It explains how to limit draughts\, install insulation to different building elements\, control ventilation and minimise the risk of condensation. \nTaking a ‘fabric first’\, whole house approach\, it also includes information about installing heat pumps\, solar panels\, and sustainable drainage\, as well as planning and building control. There is also plenty of information on grants and loans to help finance the work. SUMMARY:Pop-up Eco Open House South Street
DESCRIPTION:Come and learn about this ultra sustainable new build house on South Steet\, sitting idyllically by the River Ouse.\nAbout this event\n\n\n130 South Street is a new build replacement house\, sustainable and designed for the future. Trish and Stephen knew that they wanted to build an ultra-energy efficient forever house and chose Baufritz for quality and attention to detail\, before they even had found the plot in Lewes. Baufritz houses are prefab houses which are made in Germany and arrive with everything (apart from the kitchen) already in place. \nThe house took only two days to erect although the whole process for Trish and Stephen has taken 3 years from finding the plot\, gaining planning\, selling their house\, completing the build and moving in. \nThe construction of the house is timber framed with massive amounts of wood fibre insulation and triple glazing. The house has a whole house ventilation system with heat recovery\, is heated by an air source heat pump via underfloor heating and has 24 solar thermal panels to provide its own electricity. DESCRIPTION:Excited to announce our newest event Eco Home Open House!\nThis September\, local residents in the Lewes District are throwing open their doors so you can visit and see what changes they have made to their homes to make them more energy efficient.   Come and visit the homes\, chat to the local homeowners directly and be inspired to make changes yourselves.   \nThe eco open homes will range from brand new houses to Victorian and older where homeowners have been able to decarbonise and electrify.  The open house tours in Barcombe and Lewes will take place on the weekend of the 14th and 15th of September. \nThe open homes in Rodmell\, Newhaven and Seaford will take place the following weekend on the 21st and 22nd of September. Come and join us at our Eco Home Extravaganza at Lewes Town Hall on the 18th May between 10am-3pm.  \nThis community event will bring together retrofit experts and local suppliers to inspire and advise on how we can create energy-efficient homes that not only reduce utility bills but contribute positively to the environment. \nThere is a huge drive in the UK to retrofit our homes but for many this can feel daunting and overwhelming\, perhaps thinking\, ‘is it too costly\, or where do I even start?’ We also know there are particular challenges for a great deal of homeowners in Lewes; a town with many listed buildings in a conservation area. We have 26 exhibitors joining us for the day that will be able to answer questions and queries from local residents on ways to improve and future-proof their homes. This could be through making small changes such as installing LED lightbulbs\, or help with tackling draughts and insulation\, right through to renewable and sustainable energy solutions such as heat pumps and solar.   \nWhether you’re a homeowner already on your way to retrofitting your existing space\, or someone interested in taking those first steps – our Eco Home Extravaganza will be a relaxed and welcoming event with ideas\, inspiration and practical tips.
